Our Team:

Dr. Michele Fercho, Psy.D., R.Psych., Director
Michele is a clinical psychologist who has been practicing since 1996. She received her education in Cincinnati, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky. Originally from Calgary, she has relocated back to the area. She has worked at the Alberta Children's Hospital, and specializes in assessment and treatment of families and children dealing with externalizing problems such as attention and oppositionality. She is currently involved in several research projects looking at specific learning difficulties within the A-D/HD population, and occasionally speaks to pediatricians and family doctors in the area about helping their patients manage oppositional behaviours. She works successfully with clients to help them overcome depression, anxiety, grief and loss adding a mindful perspective to her client centered care. She also specializes in helping couples resolve conflict and learn how to have healthier and happier connections.

Derrick Shirley, M.Sc., CCC
Derrick is an internationally recognized speaker, author and counsellor, and is the founder of the It Takes 2 (IT2) Youth Leadership Institute, a not-for-profit organization. From over 400 pounds to a podium position as a triathlete, Derrick is one of the leading experts in the field of personal and professional transformation. Derrick holds a Masters Degree of Science in Applied Psychology, is a Canadian Certified Counsellor and Psychotherapist (CCC), a Certified Career Consultant, a Nutrition and Wellness Specialist, and a certified Equitable Leadership Assessment Coach. Derrick has worked with youth and families, and youth at risk for over 20 years across the country and now makes his home in Calgary, AB. He sat on the board of Directors for the Alberta Association for Multicultural Education, was a Sessional and guest instructor at the University of Calgary, and held the position of Human Resources Advisor on Diversity and Inclusion with The City of Calgary.

Dr. Terence Singh, Ph.D., R. Psych.
Terry is a Registered Psychologist in the province of Alberta, Trained as a scientist-practitioner, he holds a Master's degree and Ph.D. in clinical psychology, and was the recipient of several national and provincial awards over the course of his training. He has experience working with a diverse range of adults and adolescents in a variety of treatment settings across Canada and the USA, including counselling centres, hospital inpatient and outpatient units, and private treatment clinics. Dr. Singh's scope of practice includes individual psychotherapy and psychological assessment for adults and adolescents. He has extensive experience with a variety of empirically-supported treatment approaches, and aims to individually tailor his approach to the needs of each person he sees. Through the personalization of his treatment for each individual he sees, Dr. Singh seeks to balance the art and science of therapy to help his clients reach their goals and move toward a happier, healthier life.

Diana Colling, Office Administrator
Diana brings to our office a level of organization, competence and freshness that ensures we meet our goal of offering the highest level of service. Diana's knowledgeable and supportive voice is the first one you hear when you contact our office and she is available to answer your questions.

Clinical Fee Structure:
Our current fees are in line with the recommended rate of the Psychologists' Association of Alberta and the current rate for psychological services for individual treatment or assessment is $190.00 per hour. Couple sessions and family sesisons are billed at the rate of $190.00 per hour. These fees are not covered by Alberta Health Care but most private supplemental health insurance plans (like you may have through your employer) frequently cover a portion of the fees (actual amounts vary from plan to plan). You also may be able to receive funding through your employer's Employee Assistance Plan (EAP or EAFP) if they have one available. We are affiliate providers to some EAPs. Please contact our office to determine whether this is an option for you. Our office accepts cash, cheques, debit, Mastercard or VISA.

Our Founders:

Barb Blakemore, M.Sc., CCS
Barb Blakemore worked in the Calgary community as a psychologist for 30 years. She obtained her training at the University of Calgary and has worked at both the Alberta Children's Hospital and the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. She was a founder of this practice and had an active clinical practice for a number of years dealing with a vast range of problems including anxiety, stress, attention deficits, and learning difficulties. She conducted numerous training events for mental health professionals. Barb currently shares her expertise with this practice in the role of consultant. Her love of psychology comes through in her ongoing committment to supporting the maintaince of the highest standard of practice. Barb now provides treatment for the Siksika Nation. Bob Acton, Ph.D., R.Psych.
A consultant to this practice, Dr. Acton is a Clinical Psychologist who has been working in the field since 1981. He obtained his training at the University of Saskatchewan and has worked for a number of well-known facilities, including the Alberta Children's Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital. He has a particular interest in anxiety disorders. He has published a number of professional articles and has been an active trainer of psychologists and allied mental health practitioners. He has worked with individuals assisting them with managing a number of emotions such as anxiety, anger and sadness and he has been a forensic expert in courts in Alberta.
