Assessment:

Clients referred to the Psychology Clinic will receive a comprehensive assessment to determine the nature of their problems. This may include a detailed history, psychological tests, and sometimes a school observation is also warranted. The purpose of this assessment process is to establish the nature of the problem, the factors that influence its appearance, the best treatment option, and to assist in ongoing evaluation of our interventions. Psychological reports may be prepared at the client's request.

  • Psychoeducational Assessments: For learing concerns or giftedness, the assessment typically entails assessing cognitive learning style and profile, and current levels of academic functioning (Reading, Written Expression, Mathematics) to identify areas of strength or need for support.

Therapy:

The integrated treatment is multi-dimensional and includes the options of Individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy. Behaviour therapy, cognitive interventions, biofeedback, hypnosis, and family support are all components of the treatment process that may be offered to clients. Consultation with the client's physician is also a critical component of the treatment as medical intervention is sometimes necessary. Although most of the clinic business occurs in the office, home visits may be useful in some situations.

Groups:

We often offer a variety of groups for children and parents addressing a variety of topics including social skills, learning strategies, anger management, anxiety and attachment.

Training and Consultation:

The psychologists are also available for consultation and/or training regarding assessment and treatment: Training and Consultation
